H Admin Tasks (Tuesday 9 Sept)

If you attended the Strathclyde open day today below is a note of what you missed in class.  You MUST attempt these two tasks before next week.  THIS IS INSTEAD OF YOUR HOMEWORK FOR THIS WEEK.

You need access to a computer and MS Word to complete task 1.  If you do not have access to either you can use my classroom any lunchtime, study period or after school.

Task 1

Download the file I attached to the email I sent you (Subject line:  Higher Admin Tuesday 22 September) or click here.  The file is a work in progress of your Admin Services LO1 book.  It contains many comments for you to action and delete.  It may help you to have your yellow AS book in front of you (especially when you are deciding what styles to apply for your table of contents).

If you are stuck please ask me in class, by email or by leaving a comment below.

Task 2

Read the Target-setting presentation.

Welcome back!

Welcome back to a rainy August but what is shaping up to being a great term!

Congratulations to everyone who did well in their exams.  To those who are a wee bit dissapointed this year is your chance to shine!

The focus of the blog this year will continue to be S4 Admin (didn’t you all look smart yesterday in your lovely new ties – keep it up!) but also this year I hope to add much content to the new Higher Admin page.

I am really excited about the 17 beaming H Admin faces I had in front of my yesterday.  We are going to have a great session blogging, podcasting and video conferencing – I cannot wait!

WATCH THIS SPACE!

Early start to summer

I am off to Malta in the morning with the SHS Music Department.  This is my third visit to Malta with the music department and the pupils we are taking look to be as talented as both other groups.  I have not started packing yet but I should as we leave at 7 am tomorrow morning!  I had to keep reminding myself on Friday that it was the last day of term!  It has been a very long session with the move to our new school and a new headteacher and I think everyone, pupils and staff, are needing their holidays!

A last quick reminder to my pupils of the work I have left!

Advanced Highers – I have emailed you a reminder of your tasks.  Please send my your presentations by Friday.

H Admins – You will be working on advanced word processing tasks with Mr Mullin.  He is also a relational database genius if you have any questions from last week!

S4 Admin – It’s 2 page letters for you!

Have a great summer – see you all in August.

Mr Hamilton

PCI NAB (Intermediate 1) – Common mistakes

I have marked the NAB’s that have been completed so far.  I am recording errors that have been made by more than one person below.  Please read the list before attempting the PCI NAB at Intermediate 2 level.

  •  INSERT DATES instruction at the top of the Itinerary – most people did not delete the words INSERT DATES.  Actual dates should have been inserted here.
  • Copying the email to your teacher – well done to everyone – I received your email to Mr Roberts but some of you forgot to CC to me
  • Marking URGENT – some of you marked ‘high priority’ and got the mark.  I would also have accepted the word URGENT appearing on the subject line
  • Slide 4 of the PowerPoint – you were asked to embold the headings in the table, this just means make them bold – some of you didn’t do this
  • Instruction to make the headings a different font – again some of you didn’t do this.  Please make sure the different font is noticably different from the rest of the table
  • Please read your work before handing it to me – still a few too many silly typing errors
