a) Time management is a resource which is easy to waste.
It is important because if you use the time available efficiently, if you minimise time-wasting activities and if you make more time available for more urgent jobs then you will complete you tasks in plenty of time and in good form.
b) One problem that can arise from poor time management is if jobs are left unfinished and the administrative is left running from one crisis to another as deadlines approach. This would have a serious impact because the administrative assistant would then have to leave there own work that they were working on to finish work that should have all ready been done if they had not time wasted. Another problem that can arise would be that poor time management leading to stress with the administrative assistant feeling that the work will never be completed. This will have a major impact because if the administrative assistant is feeling very negative towards their work then they will be prone to waste more tie as they will not see the point on carrying on with the work.
c) Time stealers are the people that find it very difficult to concentrate and very easily to be distracted. For example if the telephone rings that would be a distraction or if they have unexpected visits from other colleagues would waste at least fifteen minutes of valuable work time.
d) There are many consequences of poor time and task management for example; poor quality of work will be handed in. This would have a serious effect on the colleague and the company because the manager might start to doubt the person therefore creating an atmosphere on the work place. Another consequence would be a stress-related absence. This has an effect on the whole work place because deadlines would not be met and tasks would not be complete and also the colleague will have a negative view on their work making them see that there is no point to the work.

• Time and Task Management
• a Why is good time-management important? (2)
Time management is important as it allows you to identify and complete tasks on deadlines. It minimizes the time wasted and helps you get the work done as there is more time for important jobs.
• b Select 2 problems that can arise from poor time management which you consider may have the greatest negative impact on work. Justify your answer. (4)
Work overload- This is when you are being pressed for time to complete tasks. By not managing your time you will result in completing tasks which then have to be completed the next along with your set tasks for that day. You end up in a cycle of not completing deadlines and an overload of work.
Stress- By not managing your time effectively tasks again go unfinished. A constant built of unfinished tasks could then lead to stress. If this continues the individual could potentially fall ill all because they couldn’t manage their time correctly.
• c What do you understand by the term “time stealers”. (1)
Time stealers are factors that distract you from work that you really should or are meant to be doing, such as procrastination.
• d Outline the consequences of poor time and task management. (4)
Poor time and task management can lead to consequences. By not completing your work on time and missing deadlines you could end up becoming stressed and creating poor productively and producing a poor quality of work. You may be off ill due to stress resulting in costing the company more money to pay someone to do your job and to pay for your sick leave. Your low level of work could leave customers unsatisfied creating poor relationships with your work colleagues and ultimately feeling unsatisfied in your career.

Time and Task Management
• A) Why is good time-management important? (2)
It allows you to complete your set tasks by the right dates set and it gives you time to go over completed work and check for mistakes that arise. It minimizes time-wasting activities like the television or computer and makes you finish your work before doing anything your not suppose to.
• B) Select 2 problems that can arise from poor time management which you consider may have the greatest negative impact on work. Justify your answer. (4)
Work overload this is when someone is being pressed for time which results in a long list of tasks and jobs they need to complete. This would have a big negative impact on your work because you would be too stressed to complete all the tasks you wouldn’t complete them to your best ability as you are rushing yourself with too much.
Stress this is when you have managed your time poorly and this leads to stress, giving you the feeling that work will never be completed. Under stress is very hard to work with and some people have to give up or hand in work unfinished due to them not finding the best resources in time or even them being too stressed can cause illness which would create work being even more late.
• C) What do you understand by the term “time stealers”. (1)
Time stealers are certain sidetracks like the TV, friends or the telephone which distract you from the job you are trying to complete for example homework.
• D) Outline the consequences of poor time and task management. (4)
Not completing certain set jobs and tasks on time and this would produce work overload which may end up with high stress levels and absence. Also relationships at work would be poor because some people are not pulling their weight within the business and could be seen as not reliable to others. If time is not management right the company may receive a bad name as quality of work may be poor due to the workers not giving themselves enough time. Also customers may not get their products on time if task management and time is poor and loyal customers will be lost. All in all it will cost the company a lot of money and they will have high dependence on suppliers, they will miss out on bulk buying and discount pricing which is a big negative.

Admin Homework 3
3. a) Why is good time management important?
Good time management is important to ensure that the best use is made of time available, time wasting activities are minimised and that more time is made available for important or urgent jobs.
b) Select 2 problems that can arise from poor time management which you consider may have the greatest negative impact on work. Justify your answer.
Work Overload
Being pressed for time which results in an ever increasing list of jobs that still have to be tackled. This has a negative impact on work as having too much to do, does not motivate you to work harder as you know you will still have more work to do after the task is completed.
Stress
Poor time management leading to stress with the administrative assistant feeling that the work will never be completed. This can lead to negative effects on work as you will become un able to cope with the workload of the job, and may have to take time of work.
c) What do you understand by the term “time stealers?”
A time stealer is something that stops you from doing the work your supposed to be doing, and doing something less important, such as taking a phone call.
d) Outline the consequences of poor time and task management.
The consequences of poor time and task management are poor productivity and quality of work, increased costs, deadlines which are not met, unsatisfied customers, stress related absence, poor work relationships and poor job satisfaction

a) Good time management is one of the most important skills for effective working. It is a resource that is easy to waste, for example, talking to colleagues about problems instead of taking action on it. It is important so that the best use of time is made available, time wasting activities are minimized and so that more time is made available for important or urgent jobs.
b) One problem that can arise from poor time management could be having a work overload. Being pressed for time means that you are stuck with an ever increasing list of jobs that still have to be tackled. This then results in the introduction of new jobs not being able to be carried out effectively if you still have a major backlog of tasks still to be done.
Another problem which can be arisen from poor time management could be stress. Having work that will never be completed would lead the administrative assistant to stress and feeling negative. If there are a lot of jobs needing to be completed then the assistant will feel bogged down and unable to work her/his way through.
c) Time stealers, also called time wasters, are the things which hold us up doing the jobs we are supposed to be doing. For example, talking on the phone, unexpected visits from colleagues.
d) One consequence of poor time and task management could be poor productivity. If the organization is far behind with the tasks they have to carry out, then they will not be producing as much as they are supposed to and therefore end up losing money.
Another consequence could be poor quality of work. If staff are constantly rushing to keep up with deadlines they are not meeting, then work will be of poor quality which would also lose the business money because they will not sell much.
A further consequence could be unhappy suppliers/customers. If deadlines are constantly not being met and the quality is not high, then customers will not want to use their products because they will find better elsewhere.
A final consequence could be stress related absence. Staff morale will not be high because they aren’t meeting the required deadlines which could result in staff staying off seen as they believe they are not good enough to complete the task anyway.

a) Good time management is important to ensure that deadlines are met, and so ensuring that no work falls behind. Time management is also important because it ensure that the best use is made of the time available.
b) One problem that may arise is that deadlines will not be met which would have a negative impact on the business as some work may be high priority and its essential that the work is completed for a certain date/time.
Another problem is that if the work is left to last minute then this is likely to affect the quality of the work as it may be rushed with no thought or consideration put into it. This would have a negative impact on the business because mistakes could be made, making the work look unprofessional.
c) Time stealers is something which distracts you from what you are supposed to be doing for example the telephone or the internet.
d) One consequence of poor time and task management is that jobs are left unfinished and the administrative assistant is left running from one problem to another as deadlines approach.
Planning of tasks becomes impossible and situations can arise where the administrative assistant has to react to crises rather than planning and prioritising tasks methodically and carefully.
Another problem that can arise, is being under pressure and time which then results in an increasing list of jobs that still have to be completed.
Poor time and task management leads to stress with the administrative assistant feeling that the work will never be completed and as a result work may take longer to be completed.

a)Good time management is important to ensure the best use is made out of the time available, time-wasting activities are minimised and more time is made available for important or urgent jobs.
b)A problem which can arise from poor time management is work overload. This is when the list of jobs to be carried out keeps increasing as time available gets shorter. This will negatively impact on work as the employee will worry about trying to get all the work done as quickly as possible so work will not be carried out effectively.
Another problem which can arise is activity panic. This is when the admin assistant does not have enough time to finish every job, therefore work is not completed. The admin assistant is then left running from one crisis to the other in order to meet deadlines. This negatively impacts work as jobs are not completed; therefore the task has not been carried out fully.
c)Time stealers are something which preoccupy you from your work, which waste time and can affect work flow.
d)Poor time and task management can result in poor productivity. This is because work is not being completed, or possibly not even started at all. Therefore, the employee is not carrying out all the work they are supposed to do.
Another consequence of poor time and task management is poor quality of work. This is because the employee will be rushing their work in order to get it finished on time, and will therefore not be putting much effort into it.
Another consequence is stress related absence. Since employees are so busy at work they will be extremely demoralised, which could lead to high stress at work and at home. As they are so stressed they will not feel able to go to work and absence rates in the office will be very high.
A final consequence of poor time and task management is unmet deadlines. As staff will be unorganised they will not know which task to do first, which will therefore mean that they will not know how to prioritise their work. Unmet deadlines could cost the organisation as a whole and the employee will not be doing the job they are supposed to be doing.

a)Good time management is important because the best is made of the time available, time wasting activities are minimised and more time is made available for important or urgent jobs.
b)A problem that can arise from poor time management is reaction not action. This is when planning of tasks becomes unmanageable and situations arise where the administrative assistant has to react to crises rather than planning and prioritising tasks methodically and carefully.
Another problem that can arise is stress. This can lead to stress with the administrative assistant feeling the work will never be deleted. Therefore staff morale will be reduced losing enthusiasm and work ethic.
c)Time stealers are distractions which can affect workload and are also known as time wasters.
d)A consequence of poor time and task management is poor productivity as employees will have to catch up with work they never did on time and so they are too busy catching up to finish work for that day. Therefore the business will not meet deadline and it could put them behind in the market and could result in a loss.
Another consequence of poor time and task management is poor quality of work as work has to be rushed in order to finish all work on time due to having to catch up. Therefore, work will not be up to a high standard and may not meet standards and could have to be done again.
Also a consequence of poor task and time management is stress-related absence as employees have to work through breaks etc in order to catch up, resulting in panic that they don’t get the work done on time. Also this can result in a lack of employees to do the work so a lot of the manager’s time is spent looking for someone to do the job.
Finally a consequence is unhappy customers/suppliers as customers will therefore not recommend the business to friends/family etc and so they will lose out on customers. Also unhappy suppliers will result in the supplier possibly withdrawing their contract and so they will be left with not enough stock and will have less to sell and may have to close until they find a new supplier.

A) Problems can arise if time is not managed effectively. Problems like unfinished work, work not finished for deadlines etc.
B) If planning and prioritising tasks is not done the tasks could become unmanageable which could lead to crisis. Work overload could occur and being pressed for time could increase the list of jobs which is needing done.
C) Time stealers are tasks you would rather be doing than the work you were planning to. e.g. TV, phone, unexpected guests etc.
D) Jobs could be left unfinished and could make crisis occur while the work starts to pile up and deadlines are approaching. If work begins to pile up because of poor time management this could cause stress thinking the work is never going to be completed.

3 Time and Task Management
a Good time management is important because time-wasting activities are minimised and deadlines will therefore be met. Also the quality of work will improve as the most is made out of the time available.
b A problem that can arise from poor time managment is work overload. This occurs when either too much work has been taken on or if work has been left to the last minute. This results in poor work quality.
Another problem is that poor time management can lead to stress and this leaves people feeling that the workload they have will never be completed. This can also result in them feeling very ill and depressed.
c Time Stealers are also referred to as time wasters which can affect the workflow.
d The consequences of poor time and task management are poor quality of work, unmet deadlines, unhappy customers/suppliers and poor work relationships.
